Speakers Bureau

The Ohio Humanities Council Speakers Bureau is a great way for your organization to enjoy an informative and interesting program that is inexpensive and easy to arrange. You can choose from a variety of speakers who specialize in a range of humanities fields—such as history, literature, philosophy, law, archaeology, and others. An OHC speaker will present a stimulating talk, lead a group discussion, and then take questions from the audience.

Any group is eligible to apply for Speakers Bureau programs. Groups are limited to three Speakers Bureau programs per year. If your organization would like to present a speaker, you must first directly contact the speaker to confirm program dates and times. After you have contacted the speaker and confirmed scheduling details, you must submit a speaker request form to the Ohio Humanities Council at least five weeks before the start of your program. After the OHC approves your speaker request, an agreement packet with publicity materials will be sent to you. Upon OHC approval, you must pay the appropriate application fee to the Ohio Humanities Council. The fee structure is outlined below.

  • Non-profit organizations with an annual budget under $100,000 pay a fee of $50.00
  • Non-profit organizations with an annual budget over $100,000 pay a fee of $125.00
  • Schools (including colleges or universities) and corporate or private entities pay a fee of $250.00
Add a $25 travel fee if the speaker travels more than 120 miles one-way to your location.

You may download the Speakers Bureau request form and mail the completed form to the OHC, or fill out and submit an electronic form. To apply for a Speakers Bureau program, please go the Speakers Bureau Form Page.
