Columbus After WWI: Local Historians Consider WWI’s Impact at the Centennial

October 2, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Free

Dr. Megan Threlkeld, associate professor of history and women’s & gender studies at Denison University, will moderate the panel discussion, “Columbus After WWI: Local Historians Consider WWI’s Memory at the Centennial.” Local historians Nancy Recchie, Jeff Darbee, Barbara Powers, and Dennis Keesee will discuss the various ways WWI affected and shaped the built landscape of Columbus, focusing on buildings, street names, parks, etc.

This event is part of “We Shall Remember Them: How Columbus Remembered The Great War,” on view through December 31. This collection of eight new World War I exhibits reveals the ways in which Columbus residents have memorialized World War I over the past 100 years. Participants can explore the postwar world of Columbus, Ohio, and learn about what the veterans did when they returned, how the city honored its soldiers, and how the war changed the city forever.
