The Ted Lewis Museum presents, “Jazz De Luxe – Ted Lewis & His Role in the Dawn of the Jazz Age, 1916-1920.” Speaker Mark Berresford will explore how the 20th century bandleader from Circleville popularized jazz music in Manhattan’s nightclub circuit. Berresford is a music producer and a collector of vintage cylinder 78-rpm recordings. He is also editor of Vintage Jazz Mart magazine.
The lecture is June 10, 2017, at 1 p.m. in the Pickaway County District Library, 1160 North Court Street, Circleville. It is followed by a demonstration of a historic phonograph featuring wax cylinders and 78-rpm disc recordings of Lewis’ music. For more information, visit the event website at TedLewisMuseum.org.
