Norman Rockwell: The Man Behind the Canvas — (Effect on Pop Culture)
October 25, 2016 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Ohio Humanities is pleased to announce a $4,979 grant award in support of the Springfield Museum of Art’s exhibition, Norman Rockwell: The Man Behind the Canvas. Rockwell was a longtime illustrator for Boys’ Life magazine. However, Rockwell is best known for the 332 covers he did for the Saturday Evening Post (from 1916 until 1963). The grant has enabled the museum to develop additional programs which expand on the common theme of Rockwell’s portrayal of small-town America.
The presentations listed below are free and open to the public. Each begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Springfield Museum of Art.
- ♦ Oct. 25, 2016 | Rockwell and Popular Culture
♦ Nov. 3, 2016 | PechaKucha Night – Nostalgia and Civic Revitalization
♦ Dec. 6, 2016 | Envisioning Springfield – Renaissance as a Small Town
