Zanesville African American Heritage Panel Exhibition Open House

April 22 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Come celebrate the completion of a panel exhibition on Zanesville’s African American heritage at the Gant Homestead. This project entailed the research, design, and display of four panels which depict the history of African American local churches, schools, businesses, and other community sites from the 1850s to present. Five local resident historians assisted in creating the content and interviewed six community elders to obtain their stories relative to the sites.

This project was supported by a $2,000 grant from Ohio Humanities.

This program is made possible, in part, by Ohio Humanities, a state-based partner of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
