The Athens Asylum: 150 Years of a Healing Landscape

This exhibit is the centerpiece of our 9-month commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the Athens Asylum. The exhibit will focus on how healing, both medical and personal, was defined at the Athens Asylum in the past, and how the Athens community can bring healing to the Asylum landscape today. When most people think of medieval music, they think of Gregorian chant—made especially popular by the album Chant by the Benedictine Monks of Santo Domingo de Silos—but Dr. Mary Natvig will playing samples of medieval music for the audience and connect developments in medieval music in Europe to the history of Western music.
