The Ohio Country

This 12-episode series provides a perspective on the history of the region we now call Ohio that very few of us learned in school. It puts the experiences of Miami, Shawnee, Wyandotte, and other American Indian people at the center of a refreshed version of the state’s complicated past and undecided future.

This in-depth podcast from WYSO Public Radio is the result of more than a year of reporting, made possible with support from Ohio Humanities.

Door to Door

In this forthcoming series, Cincinnati-based rabbi Miriam Terlingchamp will share her family’s story of survival during the Holocaust and the ways that genocide ripples through generations and radiates through communities—even when those communities are separated by oceans. The story begins with Miriam’s grandfather and great-grandmother in Frankfurt, Germany, and ends with the family’s pilgrimage back to his stolen childhood home.

Catch a preview of Miriam's story in the next issue of Lumen, coming summer 2025!

A black-and-white photo of Clement Vallandigham, an American lawyer and politician who served as the leader of the Copperhead faction of anti-war Democrats during the American Civil War. He served two terms for Ohio's 3rd Congressional district in the United States House of Representatives.

The Northwest Conspiracy

Currently in production, this series will highlight the Unionist leaders across the North who managed to prevent the Copperhead conspiracy from shaping the outcome of America's Civil War.

The Northwest Conspiracy will be produced by Dan Gediman, a public media producer who has previously produced This I Believe for NPR, The Reckoning, and other audio productions, in partnership with WYSO Public Radio and Ohio Humanities.
