TEMPEST: Music and Poetry for a Regenerative Earth

November 12, 2023 @ 10:30 am 1:30 pm

What can we learn from the music of 300-500 years ago that might reconnect us with the earth? And what does the poetry of our era concerning our own connection or disconnection from the planet in an era of climate crisis have to answer back? Two musicians from the Early Interval ensemble will perform nature-based music from the 15th, 16th and 17th century, and three poets from our TEMPEST book will introduce the project and our central historical/ecological questions during the 10:30 worship service at First Mennonite Church in Bluffton, Ohio, with examples of poems, sample musical pieces and some musicology/ecology background.

This will be followed by a potluck provided by members of the church, with discussion, additional informational exchange, and perhaps another sampling of poetry and music.
